What is a CRNA and Why Should I Care?

CRNAs are advanced practice registered nurses with graduate-level nursing degrees who specialize in anesthesia and pain management. After years of demanding education and clinical training, CRNAs become the hands-on providers to patients that we are today. Frequently they are the soothing voice patients depend on when they are most vulnerable, using their technical skill along with warmth and comfort.

For millions of Americans -- particularly those in underserved and rural areas -- CRNAs are the sole anesthesia professionals available, providing access to safe pain relief that would otherwise be nonexistent for many of these people.
